Thousands of fans turned up to attend the Porsche family-fuelled GP Ice Race, the motorsport gathering.now rebranded as F.A.T. Ice Race. The event came back after a 3-year break, marking with style the must-attend–open-air-event automotive season. Thank to Pirelli, we got a chance to get into the Zell am See happening, where vaste array of teams and drivers with almost any sort of vehicles and racing cars proved once again that cold temperatures are no excuse to stop racing and have some serious fun. Especially if on Pirelli tires, of course!
Despite the weather gods attempting to thwart the proceedings once again by denying the typical sub-zero winter temperatures expected in January, heavy warm rainfall preceding the event aimed to melt as much snow as possible, threatening to dampen the fun.
Mandatory here are skills, passion and, of course, the right equipment. Forget slicks; this is the winter playground for both Sottozero and studded tires supplied by Pirelli.
Audi, MINI, Porsche, RUF and Volkswagen brand were also on site, projecting the F.A.T. Ice Race to the next level while unleashing their weapons to the spectators. All-wheel drive beasts such as the Audi Hoonitron, the X-Raid All4 MINI from the Dakar Rally or the Red Bull Fabia RS rally car just to give you some references.
Have you ever seen a Porsche 917 on spiked tires with a ski rack? Well.. we did not, until yesterday!
Could our friend Automobili Amos miss the event? Obviously not: here’s the @pirelli-equipped Safarista enjoying its first public appearance in Zell am See.
Porsche AG also joined with several units of 550 RS and 718 RSK, a stunning display to revive the their timeless racing heritage.
Looking forward for the 2025 edition, and finger crossed for some proper winter temperatures and tons of – natural – fresh snow!
